Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week: 2 - 6 September

We are incredibly fortunate to have such amazing support staff at Newhaven College! During Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week, we want to recognise the vital role our teacher support staff play across the College. Their dedication and hard work are essential in helping our students reach their full potential.

The College focuses on providing a wide range of support to ensure each child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. Our tiered intervention programs address the unique needs of our students, offering targeted assistance and opportunities for enrichment.

At the heart of this effort are our teacher aides/support staff, whose hands-on support makes a significant difference in our students' lives. We would like to extend a special thank you to Des, Kelly, Katanya, Marina, Alyssa, Gail, Sonia, Lucinda, Marina and Emma for their exceptional work. We also want to acknowledge Kurt Chadwick, Ruth Turton and Cynthia Young, who lead and work closely with our support staff to ensure every student receives the care they need.

We are deeply grateful for their commitment and the positive impact they have on our community. Please join us in celebrating and thanking our wonderful support staff during Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week!

New Bus

It has been exciting to unveil our new bus wrap. It really stands out on the road with the bright blue and smiling students on the side. The back of the bus promotes the fact that all our buses are carbon neutral.

It has certainly been put to good use with daily commutes, excursions and sports competitions.

We thank Michael Wright from South Coast Bus for his assistance.

Staff Cake Bake Fundraising

On Monday the Newhaven College staff put on their aprons and cooked  scrumptious cakes for the College Charity Fundraiser. There were fun designs with awards presented to the tastiest, most surprising and lots of other categories.

The cakes were judged by Year 12 Food Studies students Summer Crestani and Milly Dengerink with help from Meagan Hollings our Food Tech Assistant. They awarded the best cake to Prep teacher Fiona Smart's Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cake.

Funds raised will go to the Cancer Council.

Wear It Purple

Friday 30 August is Wear It Purple Day. Wear It Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people. The goal is to promote LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and support. This annual event, observed on the last Friday of August, encourages individuals to wear purple in solidarity with young queer individuals.

At Newhaven College we foster a community of visibility, acceptance and understanding for our LGBTQIA+ students and staff.
