2025 Musical Production Xanadu

The Xanadu workshop saw 40 students strutting their stuff as Greek Muses and singing five-part harmonies whilst using gesture and comedic timing! We can’t wait to bring the fun and creativity of Xanadu to the stage in 2025.

Auditions are all day Wednesday 30 October – why not book in and see where it leads?!

Colour, laughter, fabulous music and a surprise around every corner, Xanadu will be a huge hit.

Ask mum and dad to find their old roller skates and give it a try…

Art and Design Exhibition

Newhaven College is currently running its annual VCE Art and Design Exhibition for 2024, a celebration of creativity and innovation. The exhibition showcases the exceptional achievements of our talented VCE students, who have worked diligently throughout the year to produce an impressive array of works in a variety of media.

The exhibition will highlight the outstanding Unit 3 and 4 works from the following subjects:

  • Art Making and Exhibiting
  • Visual Communication Design
  • Media
  • Product Design and Technologies
  • Systems Engineering

This year’s exhibition is a true reflection of the students' dedication, creativity and hard work. Each piece tells a unique story, demonstrating the range of artistic, technical, and design skills honed by our students during their VCE journey. From intricate design concepts to thought-provoking art and media projects, the display offers something for everyone to enjoy.

We invite the wider school community to join us in celebrating the diverse talents of Newhaven College's future artists, designers, and innovators. Join us in applauding the creativity and commitment of our students as they showcase their impressive work!

On the opening night, students joined their families and teachers to enjoy a mocktail and cheese platter. As part of the proceedings, Visual Arts Captains Chloe Harris and Pip Thompson-Lord presented to those gathered, along with Art Teacher Rebecca Power. Presented on the night was Best in Show, to Issey Goss. Also the most Hard working and Committed student accolade went to Claire Miron.

Congratulations for an excellent exhibition and we wish all our VCE students the best for their upcoming exams.

Bands Night!

Last week at the Westernport Hotel San Remo 23 bands featuring 60 students from Year 7 to Year 12 performed like pros! There was a huge crowd to cheer on each band as they jumped up on stage to share their talents.

We thank the Westernport Hotel for their support, yet again.

House Dance & Drama

On the last day of Term 3, our Senior House groups came together to perform some mad-cap versions of Disney classics.

Clarke won the day with their rendition of Rapunzel (or Tangled) with a 'uniquely talented' Rapunzel played by Daniel Caffieri. Second place went to Bass' performance of Aladdin with Jack Ryan playing an alarmingly blue genie. Third place went to Sambell for their highly energetic display of Beauty and the Beast, with Dean Lyle playing the dainty Belle. In fourth place was McHaffie's retelling of the story of Frozen.

The judges were impressed with the effort that went into each performance, and everyone in the audience had a great laugh.

Alumni Perform at Myer Music Bowl

Alumni Emma Volard and Jake Amy met at Newhaven College band camp when they were 16 years old. Ten years on, and the couple have found themselves performing at the Myer Music Bowl with renowned performer Bumpy, supporting Marcus Miller and Herbie Hancock.

Emma and Jake visit Newhaven College regularly to mentor and support our budding musicians.
