Newhaven College is an independent, ecumenical and co-educational school which was founded in 1980 and now caters for over 700 students across years Prep through 12. Newhaven College provides a diverse academic curriculum with a caring pastoral approach in a beautiful setting. The ethos of the school is based upon mutual respect between teacher and students, in which high standards of social and academic expectations are actively encouraged. The College caters for individual differences among students and places great importance on each student being known. The strengthening of self-esteem and the students’ sense of community equips each individual with the qualities required for good citizenship and the confidence to contribute.
An over-arching thinking and learning focus is applied to our curriculum resulting in a sequential education from Prep to Year 12. At Year 9, students attend the separate Year 9 Environmental Centre. This unique and academically rigorous program is highly supportive and features integrated approaches to learning, environmental themes and opportunities for personal development. Courses in Year 10 are chosen from core subjects and specialist electives. Advanced classes and remedial assistance are also available. A broad range of subjects is offered to VCE level across all key learning areas. VET and university enhancement programs are available.
